Long Distance Energy Work:
Oh Thank You Susan, I am grateful. During the healing I had intermittent pain then none. Mostly I dreamed. I did stay after in fact and receive. Now that I am up moving around, I have no pain, so I will take this in and let the healing integrate. Hugs! (Several days later): I have more mobility and no pain in my arm. ~Laura
Yoga:
I began taking Susan’s class almost 4 years ago. I’ve discovered the powerful yet unexpected benefits derived from a faithful practice of yoga. I lost about 15 pounds within 3 months that first year. I was thrilled to discover that the more consistently I took the classes, the less I needed inhalers for my asthma. I started having fewer attacks until I had none at all. In the year before taking Susan’s class, I literally coughed every single day (and night) for almost 8 months straight. I couldn’t lie down flat at all and I strained the muscles in my chest from the constant coughing. I was under a doctor’s care….meaning steroids, inhalers, and middle of the night emergency room runs. The yoga practice brought me gradual relief from the asthma flare ups. Imagine not being able to take in a breath, or feeling like you’re under water & not being able to surface when you need to get air. It’s terrifying to feel that you are literally suffocating to death. You can’t even blow your own nose when the asthma isn’t well controlled because it takes air to do so. The more I did the yoga, the better I began to feel. Months passed and I still didn’t need any preventative or maintenance medications at all but it was all predicated on my consistently taking classes. The best results came when I participated in classes two times per week. It is such an incredible feeling to be able to lie flat on your back at night when you go to bed, to be free of wheezing or to not be overcome with a coughing spasm that lasts for hours. I told my doctor about the yoga and he readily agreed, that yoga indeed has been effective in controlling asthma. He encouraged me to remain in the practice. When I allow my workaholism to intrude upon self-care and fall off my practice, the symptoms came back with a vengeance. The inhalers, the steroids and all the rest soon followed. It’s clear to me, very clear, that there’s a definite correlation between yoga and the cessation of my asthma symptoms. When I let other priorities supersede taking time for myself, I pay a big price…literally and figuratively. I end up on expensive medications, or worse, emergency room visits complete with concerned yet scolding physicians telling me that asthma can kill. I’m still working at being kinder to myself…it’s absolutely necessary for me to be faithful to my lungs and body by taking the yoga practice seriously. I’ve had several bouts of asthma that once controlled did not flare up again when I am taking classes. I hope that other asthmatics will be introduced to the practice of yoga. Their situation may not be so completely righted the way mine, fortunately was, but there’s no doubt that the yoga will help the lungs maintain a better level of oxygenation. A little bit would certainly go a long way. ~Megan
I have been practicing spiritual growth for over ten years. In that time, I have done different types of bodywork, yoga, rebirthing, reiki and many other disciplines. I started practicing Kundalini Yoga in the fall of 2004 without knowing anything about what to expect. I first noticed that it was not as painful has Hatha yoga and that it involved postures, motion, different breath work, chanting and a sort of ease. It was wonderful for me because the postures of yoga have always been uncomfortable. As the classes continued week after week and I found myself looking forward to Monday nights. Susan is an excellent mentor, clearly having practiced for many years. Her grace and peaceful demeanor are excellent for maintaining the focus of discovering your own self awareness. Yoga, as in all spiritual work, is about moving energy or releasing blocks. Through this human experience we have all chosen it is clear that we are working through either old Karma, past life stuff, or whatever. This all involves the movement or change in energy. After several weeks of class, I discovered an awareness of energy movement. It felt like currents were running through my body. I discovered that some discomfort was dissipating. This was and is very interesting to me. It really showed me that there were changes happening and that with the intent of coming into sync with the Universe that this experience is enhancing that progression. This human experience, at least for me, is about getting closer to my creativity. To becoming one with my source and with all of consciousness. Kundalini yoga certainly contributes to this endeavor and I am very greatful to have discovered not only the practice itself but such a wonderful class. ~George
Reflexology:
Going to Susan for reflexology is one of the biggest treats of my life! I can’t wait to go again after each time! Aside from being a treat my whole body responds to the therapy. I can tell when I have skipped a session. It helps to balance everything and I feel much better for days. ~Anne
Great post, I would suggest that you make it a bit more convenient to bookmark this to some social media sites, throw up a big add to stumble button or something in a few places that are obvious. No sense in making it too much work to add your stuff. Also, I really like your comment layout here, is it the default setup for your theme or did you customize it?
